Call for Volunteers – Be Part of the 2025 Manning Clark House Weekend of Ideas

Dates: Saturday 15 – Sunday 16 November 2025

Location: Manning Clark House, Forrest ACT

Theme: Maintaining the Rage and Enthusiasm – 50 Years on from the Whitlam Dismissal

This November, Manning Clark House will host a landmark Weekend of Ideas marking the 50th anniversary of the Whitlam Dismissal — exploring the enduring legacies of Gough Whitlam and Manning Clark in politics, culture, the arts, and Australian identity.

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help bring this important community and cultural event to life.

Some of the speakers include: John Juriansz (Whitlam Institute), Dr Elizabeth Reid AO, Dr Elizabeth Cham, Patricia Amphlett (Little Pattie), Prof Frank Bongiourno, Dr James Watson, Andrew Clark, Prof Joseph Camilleri, Prof Nicole Anderson, Prof Julian Knowles, Shane Howard (Goanna), Julie Gough and more…

Volunteers Needed

We’re looking for people to assist with:

  • Event set-up and pack-down (marquee, seating, signage)

  • Registration and guest welcome

  • Session support (ushering, timekeeping, speaker assistance)

  • Hospitality (refreshments, lunches, wine tastings)

  • Media and communications (social media posts, photography, live updates)

  • Technical support (AV coordination and troubleshooting)

Whether you can help for a few hours or for the full weekend, your contribution will make a difference.
